Let's be honest. This isn't a job advert for everyone.
If you've worked in residential childcare, you'll know that organisations face challenges. Compass has been no different. Some homes have experienced periods of instability. We've made decisions that, with hindsight, could have been better. Some homes have closed, some teams have changed, and we've listened carefully to feedback from colleagues, regulators and the children we support.
Rather than ignore that, we've chosen to learn from it. We've strengthened our governance, invested in therapeutic services and increased the support available across our homes. And we've become clearer about the kind of organisation we want to be. That's where this role comes in.
We're looking for a Deputy Manager who doesn't just want to support standards – but wants to help shape them. Someone who sees opportunity where others see difficulty. Someone who can work alongside a Registered Manager to build trust, create stability and help create a home where children genuinely thrive.
This role is for someone who leads by example, supports and develops others, and is ready to step up when it matters most. You'll play a key part in the day-to-day running of the home, helping to create a positive culture where children feel safe, valued and able to achieve their potential.
If you're looking for an easy role, this isn't it. If you're looking for a challenging and meaningful role, we'd love to hear from you.
What Compass offers you
Being a Deputy Manager is about more than supporting operations. It's about being a leader, a role model and a trusted presence for both children and colleagues.
That means having a genuine voice, opportunities to grow, support when things are difficult, and leaders who work alongside you rather than from the sidelines.
